This is the next entry in a Theatre… a Movie… and a Time, a series that was begun here. Recently, a colleague returned to contribute more of his fine writing online with a short post on a seminal sci-fi film. To celebrate his reappearance, I thought to jot down one more of these since it was he who inspired this very line of memory posts.
Among his regular readers, blogger Dennis Cozzalio (he of the wonderfully titled Sergio Leone and the Infield Fly Rule site… and that’s not him pictured above, btw) is…
As I mentioned in April, last year I did not have a chance to publish a year-end piece on those web articles (many of them on…
The following is my contribution to Ruth and her Flixchatter blog’s Small Roles… Big Performances blogathon. As she laid it out:
“The idea of this blog-a-thon is to shine a spotlight on the ‘unsung heroes’ if you will, the overlooked performers who add so much richness/entertainment value to the film no matter how brief their appearance is, but yet they don’t get the credit they so deserve.”
My partner and I have done these duo posts for a couple of years now. We usually lay out a list of book/films a few months…
Two things drove this particular Forgotten Film post. First, since good friends and colleagues Paula (of Paula’s Cinema Club) and Kevin (aka Jack Deth) hosted and…
Since I went and included the work in my recent Versus AFI Top 10 Romantic Comedies piece, I thought a few words for one film was warranted. Though I never saw it in a movie theater setting (something I regret to this very day), the film remains one of my all-time favorites, and an annual screening in our household. It is Stanley Donen’s still highly underrated Charade.

I have to admit something before, dear reader, you get to perusing the review: I didn’t consciously plan this. Yeah, sure, last month’s duo post book/film…

Whether some things are doomed to failure because of bad timing on their release, or in combination with a lack of understanding by those (few) that…
This is the next entry in a Theatre… a Movie… and a Time, a series that was begun here. The primary reason for this one is I’ve yet to finish the significant movies from my youth. That and the fact that three articles, two from Dan’s blog, today’s Movies That Everyone Should See and a Tossin’ It Out There: What Movie Reminds YOU of Your “Younger Days”? from awhile back, where my particular comment coincided with the film highlighted days later by Trailers From Hell, brought it all back to the forefront.
Given that I placed this particular film high on my recent Western post, one that was part of my AFI Top 10 arc, it inspired me to…
