Have to say, Netflix’s offerings have captured my imagination of late. I mentioned my love for Marvel’s Daredevil and its impressive opening titles sequence a short while back. Now that I’m on to Marco Polo, and their depiction of the same was equally awe-inspiring. I put forward The Space Between‘s in-depth piece as to why that is:
Behind the Work: Marco Polo Title Sequence
“No 1: The Concept
The title sequence mimics the duality of Khan’s world through visual metaphors drawn from the show’s themes of greed, betrayal, sexual intrigue and rivalry, but communicated through the beauty and grace of the ink-drawn medium. The elegant, abstract images flow and evolve into shocking scenes, introducing viewers to the contrasting opulence and violence Marco encounters throughout the series.”
Don’t take my word for it, read their informative article on the mechanics and design for yet another stunning main title sequence. I highly recommend.

I’ve only seen the pilot for this so far and it didn’t grip me. I probably should give it another shot.

I’m just starting my fourth episode. Perhaps not a gripping as Daredevil, but the intrigue, action-quotient, and nudity are going up! 😉 Thanks so much, Mark!
