“Thank you. For…
“Thank you. Forty-six years ago on April 3, 1967, I became the film critic for the Chicago Sun-Times. Some of you have read my reviews and columns and even written to me since that time. Others were introduced to my film criticism through the television show, my books, the website, the film festival, or the Ebert Club and newsletter. However you came to know me, I’m glad you did and thank you for being the best readers any film critic could ask for.” ~ Roger Ebert
The quote of the day for me.

I read that just yesterday. Even though he speaks of the recurrence of his cancer in that post, it’s so strange to think that he was optimistic and looking to the future just such a short time before he went.
Beautiful post, of course. Like someone else said on Twitter, it’s fitting that the only person who could adequately eulogize Roger Ebert was Roger Ebert himself.

Indeed. Only Roger Ebert could have written something that worked then, and now. In context. Thanks, Morgan.

We all we grew up with him. That he somehow could pull that off across generations made him special. Indeed, a sad day for cinema lovers. Thanks, mummbles.

WOW, that is an awesome quote. 46 years as a film critic is quite astounding, and he’s become an icon in American cinema. You’ll be missed Mr. Ebert 😦
